Employee Wellness

Our people are the lifeblood of our group. In the restructure and consolidation of the business over the past two years, we have always remained cognisant of their commitment and sheer hard work, which drive the group’s continued sustainability. We employed a total of 2 400 people for the year, of which 929 were permanent employees and 1 471 LDCs.


Esor acknowledges the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in South Africa and accordingly has a formal policy ensuring the fair, ethical and equitable treatment of employees living with HIV/AIDS.

The group’s HIV/AIDS policy demands confidentiality of the employee’s status – should HIV-positive employee volunteer status information, the relevant managers are appropriately briefed and informed to enable them to manage the situation. Employees are encouraged to seek medical treatment, counselling, ongoing testing and assistance from support groups.

A proactive HIV/AIDS workplace programme is in place which includes education and awareness projects to address questions in respect of HIV/AIDS ranging across prevention and infection to treatment, voluntary and confidential pre-employment and during employment testing and support for infected employees.
