1. Scope of Works:
KwaXimba Package Plant and Associated infrastructure is as follows:
- Supply, deliver, assemble and commission UUW’s existing 2Ml package plant. This includes all required civil works for the package plant site (earthworks, concrete slab, perimeter fencing, offices, ablution facilities2, guard house, etc.).
- Construction of raw water tie-in on Aqueducts 1 and 2, including a raw water pipeline, low lift pump station and associated infrastructure (chambers, raw water meter, etc.) to supply raw water to the 2Ml package plant.
- Construction of Potable Water Booster Pump Station, 1km long and 7.5km long rising mains (pipeline) from the Package Plant to the Command Reservoir DV1822 and DV1818, respectively. This includes all associated infrastructure, i.e. Chambers (air, scour and meter), pipe markers, road crossings, etc.
- Supply, deliver, install and commission SBS tanks at various reservoir sites to augment existing potable water storage capacity.
- Supply, deliver, install and commission of standby generator at the Package Plant site.
- Provision for drilling of six (6) no. boreholes at various sites, including associated infrastructure.
Phase 1- 2 Ml/day Package Plant (PWTP) to be commissioned end April 2024:
- Design of the system from Nagle Aqueducts 1 & 2 scour valve offtakes to the PWTP site location.
- Offtake from Nagle Aqueducts 1 & 2 with a HDPE raw water rising main capable of 7 Ml/day.
- Low lift pump station to PWTP capable of 7 Ml/day, with a pumping head of 15 m (based on 18 hours pumping a day). Design demand: 7Ml/day*1.05*24/18 = 9.8 Ml/day @ 15m Head.
- Installation of raw water sales flow meter located at the PWTP.
- Relocation, installation, and commissioning of the UUW owned 2 Ml/day package plant from Mpofana WTW to the agreed site.
- Construction of a slab to accommodate the relocated 2Ml/day PWTP as well the 5Ml/day PWTP for phase 2 of the project.
- Construction of a potable water pumping system and rising main to cater for a demand of 1 Ml/day to EWS DV 1822. The pumping system is to be designed on 18 hours a day. Estimated pumping head of 90m. Design demand= 2 Ml/day*24/18 = 2.7 Ml/day @ 90m Head;
- Construction of a security fence complete with vehicle access;
- Provision of a portable generator to operate the (2 + 5) Ml/day Package WTPs the raw water and potable pump stations (7 Ml/day) complete with a 2000 l self-bunded diesel storage tank;
- Commissioning of the raw water supply system, 2 Ml/day PWTP, potable water pump station and rising main to DV 1822;
- Provisional allowance for any repair work to be undertaken on the reticulation system that may have suffered from vandalism;
- Provisional allowance for any deposit/ connection fee of electricity supply- account to be in EWS name.
- 10 No. Boreholes to be drilled in conjunction with 10 No. storage tanks.
Phase 2- 7 Ml/day to be commissioned by end October 2024
- Design and integration of the 5 Ml/day PWTP (as procured by EWS).
- Tie in of the pumped raw water system to the 5 Ml/day PWTP;
- Construction of a potable water pumping system and rising main to cater for a demand of 6 Ml/day to a new 200 kl steel reservoir and tied into the EWS owned reservoir DV 1818;
- Commissioning of the raw water supply system, 5 Ml/day PWTP, potable water pump station and rising main to DV 1818.
- Operation of phase 1 & 2 for a period of 12 months commencing on the successful completion of Phase 2.
